In 2010 the Thai Condominium (or Condo) market in Bangkok has never looked brighter!
Despite a string of negative news out of Thailand in recent months, buying a condo (as opposed to a house) is still the safest and wisest investment (a foreigner) can make when considering owning property in Thailand.
The latest announcement by the Thai government that it is to restrict foreign ownership in so-called Thai nominee companies that have been set-up purely (to circumvent the law) to buy land and/or house(s), will only encourage more people to go the easier and more secure condominium route when looking to purchase their new dream home or property investment in Thailand. |
The overriding benefit of purchasing a condo is quite simply that as a foreigner you will own your condo unit in the property outright (with your name on the title deeds or “Chanut”) and in most cases the condo will also be freehold.
The key to safe guarding your investment is to ensure that it is purchased in your name (and not in a Thai company name). |
